The 38th (!) season of Saturday Night Live will come to close in a big way in May as it was announced today that Vampire Weekend will be the musical guest on May 11th and that Kanye West will be the guest on the May 18th season finale. The visit will be West's fifth, and one can only hope that he is going to drop some new material from his follow up to his jaw-dropping My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Among some more irrelevant and insane sounding ramblings, West recently told a Paris crowd that he'd been working on new material, and we know that so far West has hit the studio with The Dream, Skrillex, James Blake among others. The show in Paris was part of a series of secert shows West played a few months ago, but he didn't debut any new material. Perhaps the worldwide audience SNL provides will tempt West, who I've been told has something of an ego.

Vampire Weekend will hit the SNL stage for the second, supporting their new record Modern Vampires Of The City which will be out May 14th on XL Recordings. The band has already offered some tastes of the new record, check out the beautiful lyric video for "Step" here. No word on whether new best friend Steve Buscemi will make an appearance.

Ben Affleck will host the finale with Mr. West and Kristen Wiig will return to her former show as host when Vampire Weekend visits.
