Surviving members of hip-hop group Beastie Boys, Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, have signed a deal with Spiegel & Grau (a Random House imprint) for a book that will celebrate the band's history and pioneering style, the New York Times reports. The memoir is yet unnamed, but is planned to reach publication in fall of 2015.

Spiegel & Grau publisher Julie Grau said that Diamond and Horovitz are "interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience...There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.”

The book has enlisted hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins as editor. Its "multidimensional" and "kaleidoscopic" aspects are implemented as a loose oral history with a strong visual component. The memoir will also include contributions from other writers.

Luke Janklow of literary agency Janklow & Nesbit said that he had brought up the possibility of a memoir several years ago, but the idea was set aside by the third Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch, who just passed away last year after suffering from cancer of the salivary gland.

“After Yauch died, I didn’t push them,” said Janklow, “but I think that Adam and Mike ended up realizing that it was the right time for them.”
