After difficulties with time management between Tame Impala and side project Pond, bassist Nick Allbrook split from Tame Impala last Saturday, May 18th. His last show with the band was at the Belvoir Amphitheatre where Allbrook played his first show with the band years prior.

The band posted a statement about the departure on their website saying, “he needed to try and screw his head back on, and make an attempt to assimilate back into society.”

As a replacement they’ve brought on Cam Avery of Pond and The Growl. They added, “Heir to the throne is our long time super best musical blood brother Cam Avery, ape/womaniser/former pro golfer…cam has big shoes to fill, which is fortunate because Cam has big feet. big stinky feet that leave sock footprints in your house when he comes in and he’s like, hey man can I sleep on youz guysez’ couch?”

Tame Impala’s last album Lonerism was well received last year and was on the best album lists of 2012 for NME, Rolling Stone, Triple J, Filter Magazine and Urban Outfitters.
