Starring as befuddled English punk rocker Ian Rubbish, Fred Armisen interviewed Paul Simonon and Mick Jones of The Clash at New York's Electric Lady Studios.
Rubbish spends the bulk of the hilarious chat drawing parallels between his band, Ian Rubbish and The Bizarros, and The Clash. "What we would do with The Clash is, when they would say something political, we would say, 'We agree with The Clash' or 'What they said.'" Keep an eye out for the cover of The Bizarros' Camden Beckcons, as well. Eventually, though, Mick Jones admits that there was mutual influence between the two bands, allowing the legacy of Ian Rubbish to go on untarnished.
The real treat comes at the end, when the three get up and play Bizarros' classic "Hey Policeman." In spite of its lyrical simplicity, the song is spot on British punk and it's actually pretty good. Weird, right?
