Canadian indie-punk rockers Tokyo Police Club have released "Tunnel Vision" off of their highly anticipated album, Forcefield.
The four piece band's latest song starts off with a heavy punk bassline, which turns into a combination of both power synth and upbeat rock. "Tunnel Vision" revolves around a twenty-something describing his drunken freedom and how he's living in present, not the future.
Similar to the other tracks released off of Forcefield so far ("Hot Tonight" and "Argentina (Parts I,II,III)"), "Tunnel Vision" takes on a much cleaner sound compared to their previous releases, which translates into a a significantly poppier sound. From what we've heard, David Monks has almost completely ditched the nasal quality of his voice and has geared it more towards a smoother tone, meaning we should expect some major changes on Forcefield.
Forcefield will be released on March 25th, 2014 via Mom+Pop, which can be pre-ordered on iTunes and Amazon.
Tokyo Police Club "Tunnel Vision" lyrics:
"Going to the sweet store tell me what you want,
I'll pick us up some liquor and a pack of (?) alright
Twenty-four seven and the lights stay on,
You like a lot of people and I'll make a good drunk alrightBut I got the tunnel vision, can't see the light
I just want to make it through one more night, tonight
I just want to make it through one more night, tonightEven on the week nights all my friends say
You're still in your twenties and you're still getting paid, it's fine
Nothing is enough and gonna slip away I might be dead tomorrow but tomorrow's not todayI got the tunnel vision, can't see the light
I just want to make it through one more night, tonight
I just want to make it through one more night, tonight
I can barely move a muscle and there's still no end in sight and I just want to make it through one more night
so walk me home so walk me home so walk me home
cuz I got the tunnel vision, can't see the light
I just want to make it through one more night, tonight
I just want to make it through one more night"
