Today, the first trailer for AMY, the upcoming documentary about Amy Winehouse's life and music career, has been released. You can watch it above. The film will hit cinemas in the UK and Ireland on July 3rd.
Directed by BAFTA award-winning director Asif Kapadia and produced by James Gay-Rees, the documentary will contain previously unseen archive footage and unheard tracks. In the trailer above, we hear Amy talking about her determination to create music that represented her. She never thought she would become famous, and commented that she would probably go mad if she did. There are a few clips of her in the recording studio and being interviewed.
Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27. Additional information about the film can be found at the AMY official website.
