Last month, New Jersey punk outfit Major League announced they would be playing one final tour before calling it quits. Joining them on the road have been old friends Forever Came Calling and Sudden Suspension.

The band played their final Long Island show Friday night at the small, intimate Amityville Music Hall. The concert was put together by East Coast Collective, and local bands Parallel, Check Engine Light, and Count To Ten were the openers.

California punk rockers Forever Came Calling really got the crowd going when they opened with their aggressive, upbeat song "Ides." The audience had a lot of energy, which was consistent throughout the entire set, especially during "Indebted," a fan favorite with an addictive hook. They wrapped up with the the catchy tune "Front Porch Sunrise," and invited everyone on stage to sing along. Guitarist and vocalist Tom Lovejoy finished the set strong by jumping in the crowd and emotionally yelling the last verse.

Things got emotional once Major League came on, since Long Island has a close punk scene that has supported them since the beginning. The band parted ways with their original lead singer, Nick Trask, in 2014.

One of the highlights of the show was when Major League made a shoutout to Nick, since he's a part of the band's history. On Facebook, fans requested for the band to include him in the final tour, which Major League considered, but unfortunately couldn't accommodate.

Fans were very welcoming of the new singer, Brian Joyce, and there was a strong reaction to "Kaleidoscopes" off their newest album which features him as the vocalist, There's Nothing Wrong With Me.

Getting into their older music, Major League played "Homewrecker" and "Need I Remind You" off of their 2012 breakthrough album, Hard Feelings, which the crowd went crazy for. Another memorable moment was when the audience chanted along with "Subject To Change." They finished their set with the poppy tune about the struggles of being away on tour, "From States Away" and encored with the acoustic song "Seasons." Brian cut out and let the crowd take over by hovering the mic stand over them.

Along with Major League, the DIY punk scene has been hurting lately with a number of bands breaking up including Transit, Man Overboard, and Motion City Soundtrack.

They will be missed, but Major League has been a band for five successful years and have made an impact in many music scenes, Long Island being no exception.
