On Saturday, UK punk rock band Basement did a free acoustic set at Fred Perry, a British brand clothing store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The band just finished their headlining US tour with Turnstile, Defeater, and Colleen Green in support of their newest album, Promise Everything.

Basement also played a sold out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg that night and were raffling a pair of free tickets at the set, which featured vocalist Andrew Fischer and guitarist Alex Henery. They began with one of the singles off their new record, "Aquasun," and broke out some hair-raising harmonies in the chorus.

Next they played the aggressive "Yoke" off their debut album, I Wish I Could Stay Here, which sounded just as good stripped-down. Following was "Hanging Around," another harmony-filled tune from Promise Everything. They wrapped up with "Cloud," and a fan favorite, "Pine."

Punk bands doing acoustic sets in clothing stores seems to be the trendy thing to do. A few weeks earlier, Christian Holden of Worcester, Massachusetts emo group, The Hotelier, performed at Fair Folks & a Goat, a membership boutique and cafe, in SoHo.

I was able to catch Basement at the Music Hall of Williamsburg later that night. Whether it's a set in front of 50 people or a sold out show for several hundred more, Basement knows how to put on an outstanding performance.

Promise Everything is available for purchase on Amazon. You can also stream it and read our review right here on Zumic.
