Today, the 2016 New York SummerStage Season kicks off in Central Park with a free performance from jazz musicians McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter, Wallace Roney, and Roy Haynes.
A program of City Parks Foundation, this year's SummerStage will include 100+ free shows that will vary from music to comedy and dance to theater in New York City parks across the five boroughs. There will also be ticketed events to check out such acts as Barenaked Ladies, Ryan Adams, Flight of the Conchords, Phillip Phillips, The Go-Go's, Lucius, Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration, and Garbage.
Performances will take at such venues as Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, NYC, Marcus Garvey Park, Tompkins Square Park, and East River Park in NYC, Crotona Park and St. Mary's Park in the Bronx, Queensbridge Park in Queens, Cloves Lake Park in Staten Island, and Saratoga Park in Brooklyn.
