On Monday, Essence Festival producers announced a partial lineup for its 19th annual event. The 4-day long festival will take place at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome in New Orleans July 3rd-7th will be providing entertainment on a whopping 8 stages. Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, and Brandy are set to headline the event. Other performers that are slated to play include Maxwell, New Edition, Charlie Wilson, LL Cool J, Anthony David, Big Daddy Kane, Bridget Kelly, Blackstreet, Les Nubians, and Mint Condition.
This year producers have dropped "music" from the name of the event to signify the event is about more than music and will focus on culture and community. Fifty authors and speakers are expected to present, including Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. John Lewis and Dr. Steve Perry.
