As we reported last year, Tim Lambesis -- embroiled singer for Christian metalcore band As I Lay Dying -- was arrested after he attempted to hire an undercover police officer to kill his estranged wife, Meggan Lambesis. The frontman has now pleaded guilty to the charges of solicitation of murder and faces up to nine years in prison.

NBC San Diego reports that the singer attempted to hire a contract killer through a personal trainer at his gym. When authorities learned of the plot, a sting operation was set up and an undercover officer posed as a hitman, asking if Lambesis wanted his wife dead. "Yes, that's exactly what I want," he said. The undercover agent received a downpayment of $1,000, photos of Lambesis' wife, her address, and gate codes.

His wife filed for divorce the previous year and, according to court documents, was worried about his ability to care for their three adopted children.

Lambesis' guilty plea could result in a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, but the official sentencing won't take place until May 2nd. Stay tuned to Zumic for more details.
