Atlanta's Fox Theatre recently hosted a Gregg Allman tribute concert featuring a plethora of guest stars, and now, Allman is releasing a live CD / DVD of the show. Entitled All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs & Voice of Gregg Allman, the 2-CD, 1-DVD set will feature performances by Gregg himself, his son Devon Allman, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Robert Randolph, Dr. John, and many more.
Allman was also joined by country stars for the show, with Vince Gill and Zac Brown playing along for a performance of The Allman Brothers' 1970 hit, "Midnight Rider." The stage was full of top-level musicians, with Gregg taking the first verse and then splitting vocal duties with Brown. The artists nailed their respective parts and Gill came in at the end and cleaned up with a rippin' guitar solo. Watch the video above.
Allman told Rolling Stone:
"I really enjoyed singing this song with Vince and Zac. They really added something special to it. Being out there with them felt great."
All My Friends will be out on May 6th, and it's available for pre-order through Amazon. For more news, music, videos, and upcoming tour dates, check out Gregg Allman's Zumic artist page.
