In case you missed it, Led Zeppelin released their first three albums as deluxe reissues earlier this year. While the first album included a previously unreleased concert recording from Paris, the second and third albums included "companion discs" with an A+ collection of alternate mixes and/or studio outtakes of virtually every song. This was something that Zeppelin fans have yearned to hear for decades. Those are all available on Spotify and Amazon.

Yesterday, the band shared their first taste of the similar deluxe treatments of their next two albums, IV and Houses of the Holy. Listen to "Black Dog" above, which is pretty much identical to the opening song on IV, but with an extra vocal part and without the intro section. The next two albums are due to be released on October 28, 2014.

Below you can see everything being offered in the "Super Deluxe Edition Box Sets" with 2 CDs, 2 LPs, and a book for each album. The items are also available in smaller packages for cheaper prices. Click the images for more information.

It must be said that this audio snippet of "Black Dog" is almost identical to the familiar version that gets played on classic rock radio hundreds of times every day. To be perfectly honest, this mix sounds inferior to that version and doesn't add much in terms of novelty or insight. It's also only 67 seconds, which is pretty unsatisfying to listen to. Not a very good promotional clip to get people excited for the studio outtakes, but then again Led Zeppelin has always been more about full albums and real songs than marketing hype.
