Prince, ever the innovator, has two new LPs coming out at the end of the month. One will be a solo album called Art Official Age, and the other will be PLECTRUMELECTRUM, recorded with his band, 3RDEYEGIRL.

"Whitecaps" is the first official single from the album with 3RDEYEGIRL, and it's a classic rock ballad which features drummer Hannah Ford on lead vocals. The optimistic lyrics have a very Prince vibe -- telling a story of pulling through bad weather -- but the only time we hear the man himself sing is during the chorus. It's a decidedly different direction from Prince's latest singles, "Clouds" and "U Know," but perhaps that's why he's simultaneously releasing two albums. From what we've heard so far, it sounds like PLECTRUMELECTRUM will be more rock-focused, while Art Official Age centers around futuristic funk. Listen to "Whitecaps" above.

Both records are slated for a September 30th release. Pre-order Art Official Age and PLECTRUMELECTRUM through Amazon.
