Gary Clark Jr. will be releasing a live album titled Gary Clark Jr. Live on September 23rd that will include mostly original material, and a few covers. Following "Travis County" comes another live video of a tune that will be on the upcoming album, a cover of the late Albert Collins' blues masterpiece "If Trouble Was Money." Listen to the song above.
The slow-burning number is dripping with blues sweat. After Gary sings the first two verses, rhythm guitarist King Zapata unleashes a distorted guitar solo that's lowdown and dirty. The feeling of the tune digs deep into Gary's soul, as is evidenced through his facial expressions. He closes with an impressive solo that will leave you with goosebumps. I have a feeling Albert would approve of this cover.
Gary Clark Jr. Live will be released on Warner Bros. Records, and is available for pre-order via iTunes and Amazon. For Gary Clark Jr.’s latest music, news, and tour dates, check out his Zumic artist page.
