The 2014 Adult Swim Singles program continues with "Atlanta," a scorching new track from Mastodon featuring a guest appearance from Butthole Surfers frontman Gibby Haynes.
"There are those that are born to be winners, and then there are these guys," says a vocal sample in the intro. The blistering cut is almost exactly what you'd expect from a Gibby / Mastodon collaboration: Straight forward, driving metal with plenty of psychedelic strangeness from Haynes. His panicked, reverb-drenched vocals add an odd sense of urgency to the track, and the seemingly random samples make it weirder still. Standing on its own, the song would be a fuzzy, thrashing rocker, but with Gibby involved, it's something totally unusual and awesome. Stream "Atlanta" above.
Download the track starting Monday, September 8th via Adult Swim Singles. Mastodon's most recent album, Once More 'Round The Sun, is available now at Amazon. For more music, videos, news, and tour dates, check out Mastodon's Zumic artist page.
