Earlier today, Jessie Ware released the second music video to accompany her upcoming album, Tough Love. The video for "Say You Love Me" is simple yet beautiful, and allows viewers to focus on the theatricality of Ware's vocal performance in the pop ballad.
The music video was directed by Tell No One, an experimental film duo whose work has been featured in New York’s Guggenheim Museum and the British Film Institute. Ware reflected on the filming experience in press release:
They are such talents and I have been a fan of their work for a while. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them on this. It was probably the most technically challenging thing I have worked on, but for them, it looked like a walk in the park. They have such confidence in what they do, it was inspiring to watch.
Ware is the focus of the music video, lounging on a rock with birds buzzing about her while the lighting gradually changes from day to night. The longing present in her lyrics, which she co-wrote with Ed Sheeran, is reflected in her isolation during the music video. Isolation and afflictions of the heart seem to be a theme in her upcoming album. Both ideas are present in "Tough Love" the first single off her upcoming record, which was released in June.
You can preorder Jessie Ware′s Tough Love on iTunes, Amazon, and her official website.
