In August, Ty Segall released Manipulator, his seventh solo album, and has been continuously touring since then. He stopped by KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic to play a few songs off the new record and talk about his recording process, among many other things. Watch the video above.

Before the first song, DJ Anne Litt told listeners to prepare to have "their faces melted off," and based on the ferocity of Segall's guitar solos during the first three songs of his set, she was right. Segall and his band played with a ton of energy and excitement throughout their sets. You could hear all of his influences -- garage rock, psychedelic rock, punk rock -- in every tune but they sound fresh thanks to the weirdness of his singing style and lyrics.

During the interview portion, Segall talked about taking a month to record Manipulator, working with engineer Chris Woodhouse, and some of his influences for the new record. He told an interesting variety of stories, including what his first albums were, getting in trouble for playing music too loud when he was little, and who his dream collaborators are.

You can listen to Manipulator in its entirety right here on Zumic. The album is out now and currently available on iTunes and Amazon.
