Success, drug-dealing, rags to riches, hustling, and determination. Over the past 9 years, Young Jeezy, now simply named Jeezy, has faithfully stuck to those topics in his music. While his 5th solo album, Seen It All: The Autobiography, for most part discusses those themes, Jeezy decided to take slightly different approach and show his fans he is at a period of self-reflection.
Seen It All, which was released on September 2nd, stirred up a bit of controversy before its release date because of the album's artwork. The cover features the Eye of Providence, which most people regard as Illuminati symbolism. In a Power 99 FM interview, Jeezy stated; “I am a hard working God fearing man, I have no idea what an Illuminati is and I really don’t give a damn. I just wanted to do something different and something bigger and that was my vision.” He also mentioned that this album contains darker content in comparison to his other albums which further explains the dark, symbolic artwork. “The album cover is whatever but when you open that album and play that album that we aint goin’ have this conversation because that music is A1," he further stated in that same interview.
If you have been a Jeezy fans since 2005, this album will not disappoint you. Anthemic beats with honest, passionate lyrics is what Jeezy has to offer his fans year after year. He has not deviated from that mission on this album. Songs such as, "Enough" and "How I Did It (Perfection)" aim to inspire those who have experienced a similar lifestyle to the drug-dealer turned rapper. "He states in “Enough,” "All I heard is what I couldn't do / All I heard is what I couldn't be / Yet I'm still determined on these niggas, just look at me." The songs "Me OK," "1/4 Block," and the lead single "Seen It All" shows Jeezy's allegiance to the trap life.
The darker side of Jeezy is expressed through the songs "No Tears" featuring vocals from Future, "Win Is A Win," and "Holy Ghost." "No Tears" features an emotional Jeezy speaking about the good friends he had that have changed due to his success but he must maintain his manly image by not shedding tears. Of course Jeezy can't forget to discuss his wealth. His boastful attitude towards his lavish lifestyle is expressed in the song "Beautiful" featuring The Game and Rick Ross.
When asked about the title to this album on Power 105.1 Breakfast Club in Atlanta, he stated; “I never really told my real story, I just feel like that (the album) was my story. Most of the time my music is about what other people go through but this is my story."
Approaching a decade in the rap game, Jeezy has proven to fans and critics alike that his presence is needed as he continues to provide quality music appealing all hip hop fans. He is on his way to becoming a legendary figure in Southern hip hop, as well as hip hop in general.
