Neo-classical composer / conductor Ljova has collaborated with 11 musicians in 9 different New York City subway stations to record a song together called "Signal Strength." The song has tested the limits of the ever-improving NYC subway station WiFi, and been captured by filmmaker Chris Shimojima.
All the musicians are connected on webcam to Ljova, who conducts the piece from Byrant Park in front of 9 laptops. The lively song includes common instruments like the guitar and trumpet as well as the uncanny such as the theremin and musical saw. Shimojima's video shows that WiFi technology not only changes the way we communicate but also the way we can play music together. Watch the fascinating video above, via YouTube.
