Yesterday, up-and-coming Brooklyn rapper Your Old Droog released his "Nutty Bars." His debut self-titled LP was released yesterday as well.

What grabs your attention in this song? Is it his uncanny vocal resemblance to rap veteran Nas or his cleverness with incorporating well-known cookies and snack cakes in his lyrics? It could be both. Back in June, Droog released his self-titled debut EP with very little promotion, and some people actually believed Nas was recording music under a new moniker. He put those rumors to rest with a freestyle video he released on his YouTube channel back in August.

With "Nutty Bars," Droog gives us a hookless, '90s style song that would be praised by hip hop purists. His wittiness is undeniable as he integrates Little Debbie snacks with everyday street life. He raps, "There's a lot of great song writers, tremendous singers / But everybody's not into Vienna Fingers / I bring a different kind of wafer, that ain't the way for me." It's one hell of a debut from the Brooklyn MC.
