Montreal folk group The Barr Brothers are currently on tour supporting their newest album, Sleeping Operator. The day before their show at The Tractor Tavern in Seattle, the quintet stopped by KEXP to play a some songs off the new record and talk with host Troy Nelson. Check out the full performance above.

The band brought a plethora of instruments to the studio and put them all to great use. The first song they played, "Static Orphans," leads seamlessly into the second, "Love Ain't Enough." The beautiful and eerie intro is highlighted by harp, banjo and guitarist / vocalist Brad Barr creating a violin effect by pulling a string through his guitar. During "Love Ain't Enough," Barr's vocals are soft and gentle, letting the instruments shine. The second track features no percussion, as the strings play a starring role.

During the interview portion the band talk about making the album with engineer Ryan Freeland, performing on David Letterman and completely forgetting how it felt. They tell the story of Andrew Barr and his wife meeting because the club that his previous band, The Slip, were playing in caught on fire. The Barr Brothers finish up their wonderful set with the bluesy "Half Crazy" and the stirring, soulful "Come In The Water."

You can listen to Sleeping Operator right here on Zumic. Sleeping Operator is out now and currently available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes.
