Madonna is back with her thirteenth studio album, Rebel Heart. This time around, Madonna enlists producers including Kanye West, Avicii, and Diplo to provide the instrumentals to her forever-young pop songs.

If there's one thing you can say about Madonna, it's that she is incredible at reinventing herself and staying relevant. These songs sound far more contemporary than anything you would expect from a pop star who hit her prime in the '80s. The A-list producers might be more to thank for that than Madonna's artistry, but you do have to give credit where it's due.

"Unapologetic Bitch" and "Bitch I'm Madonna" fit right in with the rest of the current happenings in the EDM-dominated pop world, and Madonna hardly sounds 56 years old on the cuts. Enlisting Nicki Minaj and Chance The Rapper for features go a long way in making the record sound and feel fit for young ears.

The other side of her ability to stay relevant is her refusal to grow up. The lyrics on "Devil Pray" say, "And we can do drugs and we can smoke weed and we can drink whiskey / Yeah, we can get high and we can get stoned / And we can sniff glue and we can do E and we can drop acid." It hardly sounds like anything a woman with four children should be singing, but Madonna is clearly more interested in making pop music for teenagers than the 40 or 50-somethings who liked her in her "Like a Virgin" days.

Still, you really do have to tip your hat to the woman. Madonna has maintained relevance for 32 years and counting now, which is hardly an easy feat to accomplish. While she's never been known for making the most thought-provoking music under the moon, she has certainly flourished at creating pop music for those who enjoy it. In that realm, she's succeeded once again.

Rebel Heart is available on Amazon (CD, MP3, Vinyl).
