The Brooklyn-based band San Fermin shared a live performance of "Emily," the newest single off of their upcoming album. Watch above.

San Fermin's next studio album, Jackrabbit, is set to release on April 21st. "Emily" is the album's second single. It features Allen Tate as the lead vocalist, and Charlene Kaye as the supporting vocalist. Tate has a unique voice that growls and carries across the multitude of instruments being featured. At the helm of San Fermin is composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, a graduate from the Yale School of Music. Here's what Ellis told The Fader about the song:

I wrote "Emily" in the back of the tour bus and in a hotel room in Reno—it was the first time I'd tried to write while on tour... I wasn't at my keyboard so I had to write as simply as possible, just a melody and block chords. It was liberating not to try to cram too much into it. It's one of the more focused songs on the record and I think that comes through in the live performance.

The song's instrumental arrangement is well planned out, giving every musician a chance to show off his or her chops without overwhelming the vocalists. Ludwig-Leone has taken his classically refined compositional skills and applied them seamlessly to a pop setting to create an ornate, beautiful sound. If this single is any indication, Jackrabbit will prove to be another outstanding album for San Fermin.

The band's debut self-titled album was in many ways a concept album. Loosely-tonal instrumental tracks tie lush vocal tracks together. Some of the songs are eerie and musically unpredictable. It's difficult to place a definitive genre on the album, which undoubtedly lends to the band's allure. There are tracks that sound as though they would function perfectly as incidental music, others that sound like soundscape, and others that fit comfortably into a chamber pop category.

Jackrabbit is available for pre-order on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
