The duo of Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan, otherwise known as The Milk Carton Kids, have shared another song from their upcoming album titled Monterey. Listen to their gentle track "Secrets Of The Stars" above via SoundCloud.

Joey Ryan spoke with Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy about the influences that shaped the song:

"Secrets of the Stars" deals with those transcendent moments when, even if few and far between, we seem to experience something other than a merely physical existence. The song references love, dreams and near-death experiences and uses the imagery and language of various of Haruki Murakami’s novels.

It's a beautiful song with restrained, fingerpicked acoustic guitars that supplement the vocal harmonies of Kenneth and Joey. "Secrets Of The Stars" flows like a calm river through one's soul, and the lyrics, "All this time I lived inside a memory / Daylight creeping in through a crack in the weathered seam" allow for personal reflection.

The band previously shared the album's title track, and you can listen to that here on Zumic.

Monterey will be the group's third studio album, and is set for a May 19th release via Anti- Records. You can preorder the album on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
