Singer-songwriter Beth Hart has released her seventh solo studio album titled Better Than Home. On her previous three albums, Beth worked with producer Kevin Shirley. This release sees her collaborating with new producers, Rob Mathes and Michael Stevens.

This album also marks a significant change in Hart's songwriting. Speaking with Billboard, she shared that her producers urged her to write about what she loved:

I would always use music as a way to figure things out or find my way back or cure myself in some way. Certainly when I was happy or having a good time, the last thing I'd do is go to the piano and write a song.

The deluxe edition of Better Than Home includes ten songs and three bonus tracks (two of which are acoustic). Fragile piano work combined with orchestral strings are found on many of the songs. Beth Hart's soulful voice shine on every track, some of which are accompanied by bright horns and skillful acoustic playing.

The lyrics are open and honest, as Beth bares her soul singing about love and longing. Musically, she touches on a wide variety of styles ranging from funky blues rock to mellow jazz. Highlight tracks include "Might As Well Smile," "Trouble," "We're Still Living In The City," and "The Mood That I'm In."

Better Than Home is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3). You can also stream the full album above, via Spotify.
