Today is an exciting day for fans of New Jersey punk band Titus Andronicus. They have shared a new song called "Dimed Out" and plan to release a rock opera titled The Most Lamentable Tragedy this July, through Merge Records. Listen to the song above via the YouTube lyric video.

The song is 110% pure energy, with Patrick Stickles' shouting vocals, relentless distorted guitar strumming, and fast-paced drums. Background strings mid-way through give the song a punk rock operatic feel. This is our first taste of the upcoming LP, and it will be interesting to see where this song fits into the tracklisting.

Frontman Patrick Stickles shared his thoughts about the new album with Grantland:

I love rock and roll — just regular LPs give me a lot of pleasure. I have another, equally strong love for pieces of art that have different standards in place for, like, what makes them excellent, you know? I wanted to work on a macro level and a micro level. You can enjoy for three minutes and it’s just a good time. Or you can invest 93 minutes and hopefully you’ll get something else out of it.

The Most Lamentable Tragedy will be a 93-minute rock opera containing 28 songs, split into five acts. It will be available July 28th, and is available for pre-order through Merge Records.
