"Freedom" - Pharrell Williams at Glastonbury 2015 [BBC YouTube Official Video + Full Set]

Pharrell debuted a new song called "Freedom" at the Glastonbury festival over the weekend. Watch the performance above, via the BBC's YouTube channel. British viewers are able to watch Pharrell's full Glastonbury set over at BBC Music's website. The studio recording of the song has been used in promotional material for Apple Music, where it is now streaming exclusively.

Running around and screeching like a madman, Pharrell really puts a lot of energy into the song. You can't help but notice there are at least 30 security guards between the stage and the audience, putting somewhat of a damper on the message as he runs down to connect with the crowd. The lyrics in the hook, which sound like, "First name is free / Last name is dumb" are a little puzzling. So is the Adidas logo on Pharrell's butt. Pharrell may be trying to re-create the success of "Happy" with the one-word uplifting song title, but it comes off as a slightly confusing mix of overt commercialism and ambiguous social commentary.
