Acoustic strumming and hand claps keep the song's rhythm flowing while sharp piano notes and slick production give the song a unique character. Grace's vocals are filtered slightly as she pleads to "fill up your empty heart." One could hear a slight resemblance to John Lennon's "Give Peace A Chance," but "Empty Heart" has the Grace Potter touch all over it.
