Neil Young has just announced a new archival release titled Bluenote Café. Today, we get a taste of what will be included on the 2-CD set. Above, listen to an early live version of "Crime In The City," which was recorded at Jones Beach in Wantagh, New York on August 27, 1988.

The song was first officially released in an acoustic configuration on Neil Young's 1989 album, Freedom, that brought him back to the forefront of the rock world on the strength of "Rockin' In The Free World" after a series of experimental '80s releases that were mostly commercial failures. This version of "Crime In The City" contains alternate lyrics, and features aggressive electric guitars similar to the version on the Weld LP / concert film that was recorded and released in '91.

Bluenote Café will be released as a 2-CD set and 4-vinyl LP. It will include seven unreleased songs from various performances during Neil's 1988 tour: "Soul of a Woman," "Bad News Comes to Town," "Ain’t it the Truth," "I'm Goin'," "Crime of the Heart," "Doghouse," "Fool for Your Love," and "Tonight's the Night."

The Bluenote Café band was the evolution of Neil Young's Bluenotes band of the late '80s. This new release includes appearances by longtime Crazy Horse members Ralph Molina, Billy Talbot, and Frank "Poncho" Sampedro, as well as frequent Young collaborators Ben Keith and Rick Rosas, and Bluenotes musicians Chad Cromwell, Steve Lawrence, Larry Cragg, Claude Cailliet, Tom Bray, and John Fumo.

Set to be officially released on November 13, 2015, you can pick up Bluenote Café on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
