Elton John “Looking Up'” Lyrics

Figuring out where I went wrong
There’s good top collar, then was off too long
Too much luck, too little of
The acting right, not acting up
I want the world upon my back
Can someone else but me pick up the slack?
Just because I could say
It’s my life, do things my way

Now I’m looking up more than I look down
The view’s a whole lot better second time around
Too much of me was hidden in the shadows
I looked up and felt my feet lift off the ground

Color life with a broader stroke
The laughter comes as easy as the jokes
Nowadays I’m thinking that
Time is wasted looking back

Now I’m looking up more than I look down
The view’s a whole lot better second time around
Too much of me was hidden in the shadows
I looked up and felt my feet lift off the ground

You got me buggin’ in a well
It’s dark and deep down there
Crank the handle, bring it up
The water crystal clear

[Guitar Solo]

I’m looking up more than I look down
The view’s a whole lot better second time around
Too much of me was hidden in the shadows
I looked up and felt my feet lift off the ground

Looking up more than I look down
The view’s a whole lot better second time around
Too much of me was hidden in the shadows
I looked up and felt my feet lift off the ground

Looking up
Looking up
Looking up
Looking up

Editor’s note: Music video replaced audio stream on November 17, 2015

After 32 studio albums, Elton John is still a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Today, we get a taste of what to expect from his upcoming LP, Wonderful Crazy Night. Listen and watch the official music video for “Looking Up” above, via Elton’s YouTube.

The song features an infectious blues / rock shuffle that’s upbeat and energetic. Elton’s fingers supply the piano notes, and Davey Johnstone’s sharp guitar riffs and brief but dynamic guitar solo give’s the song a strong rock and roll element. The lyrics are by longtime Elton John collaborator Bernie Taupin. If this track is any indication of what to expect from the album, then we’re in for a fun time!

The animated video features bursts of bright colors in various shapes and sizes while silhouette images of Elton dance across the screen. It’s fun and playful, totally fitting Elton John’s character!

Wonderful Crazy Night will be available February 5, 2016. Pick it up on Amazon (Vinyl, CD).

Elton also recently announced that he’ll be bringing his Million Dollar Piano show back to Las Vegas in 2016. For more information about that, as well as his latest music and news, check out his Zumic artist page.
