Sub Pop just released an intense new video of Father John Misty performing "Ideal Husband" live in concert. Check it out above, via YouTube.
"Ideal Husband" appears on Father John Misty's acclaimed 2015 album I Love You, Honeybear. The song stands out for its edgy, hard rock aesthetic and brutally self-effacing lyrics. From the brash, feedback-laden intro, you can tell that this song is nothing to fuck with.
During the performance, Josh Tillman (aka Father John Misty) ditches his guitar and drops to his knees, buckling under the gravity of his own confessions. Unfortunately, it can be hard to see exactly whats happening onstage in this performance. To get a better idea of FJM's charismatic "Ideal Husband" routine, you can check out his performance on Jimmy Kimmel.
As I mentioned earlier, this video can be a lot to take in. The strobe lights and amateurish quality of the footage make this a good deal harder to watch than the Kimmel performance. But luckily there is more than enough energy onstage to make this an exciting listen.
I Love You, Honeybear is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3). You can also stream the album for free and read our review right here on Zumic.
