Filter “Mother E” Lyrics

I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound
I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound

Murder
I’m a man in hell
Just looking for a place to kill
I think they’ve got a price to pay
I’ll hit them where they play

Murder
Murder
Murder

Murder lies beneath the lie
I’m a suffering fool
I’ve got nothing but rage to kill
The pain
The pain
The pain
The pain

I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons
I’ve got my reasons

Murder
I’m a man in hell
Just looking for a place to kill
They’ve got a fucking price to pay
I’ll hit them where they play

Murder
Murder
Murder
Murder

Industrial rock veterans Filter have shared “Mother E,” the intense second single from their upcoming seventh studio album, Crazy Eyes. Listen to the track above, via Filter’s YouTube.

Frontman Richard Patrick spoke with Billboard about the new sound the band is going for on Crazy Eyes: “This record is more experimental and crazy. It’s where I am today. I wanted to go to some scary, weird places instead of doing that big-ass guitar sound again.”

“Mother E” is a great example of this new sound Richard is talking about. Beginning with a rising chant of “I’ve got my reasons and my reasons are sound,” Fitzpatrick lets out a maniacal scream before the industrial heaviness of the song kicks in. Midway in, a soft breakdown with sympathetic violin accompanies hushed vocals before an eruption of instruments blasts your eardrums. Fitzpatrick has been a touring guitarist in Nine Inch Nails, so it comes as no surprise that there’s a hint of NIN’s sound.

Last month, Filter shared the first single, “Take Me To Heaven.”

Crazy Eyes is scheduled for an April 8, 2016 release through Wind-up Records. The Richard Patrick-produced LP will include a lineup featuring guitarist Oumi Kapila, bassist Ashley Dzerigian, drummer Chris Reeve and keyboardist Bobby Miller.
