In celebration of Record Store Day on April 16, 2016, Southern rock band Mudcrutch (featuring none other than Tom Petty on vocals and bass) will release a limited edition 7" that will include two songs, "Trailer" and "Beautiful World." Both songs will also be on the band's upcoming sophomore album, 2. Listen to "Trailer" above, via Spotify.

Mudcrutch started in Florida in 1970, and moved to Los Angeles after signing a record deal in 1974. The current lineup consists of Tom Petty, Mike Campbell (guitar / vocals), Benmont Tench (keyboards / vocals), Tom Leadon (guitar / vocals), and Randall Marsh (drums / vocals). It wasn't until 1976 that Petty, Campbell, and Tench would go on to form Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. In 2008 they reunited the old band, released a very good self-titled LP, and played a limited number of concerts.

"Trailer" is not much different from what we'd expect from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. The song has an easy feeling rhythm supported with harmonica, piano, and Petty's familiar vocals, which sound especially Bob Dylan-esque here. The lyrics are relatable to anyone who's loved another and has gone through sacrifices in the relationship.

2 will be released on May 20, 2016 via Reprise Records. Pick it up on Amazon.

In related news, Mudcrutch has announced 2016 tour dates, which will be the band's first national tour. Tickets for the concerts will come with a free copy of the album (although there are exceptions). Get all the info for each concert through the links below:
