LYRICS

Yonder Mountain String Band “Traffic Jam” Lyrics

I’m sitting on a hilltop looking at a traffic jam
Laughin’ at the people as they drive as fast as they can
But five miles an hour won’t get them very far
They’ll still be sitting in their car

Sitting on a hilltop lookin’ at the rushed out crowed
The words that they’re yelling have got to make their mamas proud
But at the rate their goin’ its gonna be about a year
Before they get to second gear

I’m sitting on a hilltop lookin at the city move
It makes a lot of noise but it cant seem to find a groove
People took my advice they tried to slow things down
Stop and take a look around

See me sitting on a hilltop lookin’ at ’em look at me
They see a smile on my face and my hair blowin in the breeze
Maybe just one of them will stop and say hello
And sit awhile before they go

It’s time to time to play the music
It’s time to light the lights
It’s time to get things started for another show tonight
It’s time to put on make up
It’s time to do something right
It’s time to play the music on the Muppet Show tonight

Smokey Robinson “I Second That Emotion” Lyrics

Maybe you want to give me kisses sweet
But only for one night with no repeat
And maybe you’d go away and never call
And a taste of honey is worse than none at all

Oh, little girl, in that case I don’t want no part
That would only break my heart
Oh, but if you feel like loving me
If you got the notion
I second that emotion
Said, if you feel like giving me
A lifetime of devotion
I second that emotion

Maybe you think that love would tie you down
And you don’t have the time to hang around
Maybe you think that love was made for fools
So it makes you wise to break the rules

Oh, little girl, in that case I don’t want no part
That would only break my heart
Oh, but if you feel like loving me
If you got the notion
I second that emotion
Said, if you feel like giving me
A lifetime of devotion
I second that emotion

Oh, little girl, in that case I don’t want no part
That would only break my heart
Oh, but if you feel like loving me
If you got the notion
I second that emotion
Said, if you feel like giving me
A lifetime of devotion
I second that emotion

“Goodbye Blue Sky” – Yonder Mountain String Band at Crystal Ballroom March 18, 2016
LYRICS

Pink Floyd “Goodbye Blue Sky” Lyrics

Look, mommy. There’s an airplane up in the sky

Did you see the frightened ones?
Did you hear the falling bombs?

Did you ever wonder why we
Had to run for shelter when the
Promise of a brave, new world
Unfurled beneath the clear blue sky?

Did you see the frightened ones?
Did you hear the falling bombs?

The flames are all long gone, but the pain lingers on
Goodbye, blue sky
Goodbye, blue sky
Goodbye. Goodbye

The lengthy sandwich of “Traffic Jam” > “I Second That Emotion” > “Traffic Jam” shows the band’s dexterity and virtuosity. It’s worth noting that “Traffic Jam” is a YMSB original, while “I Second That Emotion” is a Smokey Robinson tune. Meanwhile, their cover of Pink Floyd’s “Goodbye Blue Sky” makes for a touching encore.

You can pick up a free MP3 download of this concert on livedownloads.com, where the band sells most of their concert recordings. If you haven’t done so already, pick up YMSB’s 2015 album, Black Sheep, on Amazon.
