On August 5, 2016, Evil Teen Records will release a Gov't Mule archival album titled The Tel-Star Sessions containing never-before-released demos the band recorded at Florida's Tel-Star Studios in 1994. Today, they've shared an animated music video from that release, a rocking cover of ZZ Top's "Just Got Paid." Watch above.

Guitarist Warren Haynes shared with Consequence of Sound about why they chose to cover the ZZ Top tune:

Early ZZ Top was definitely an influence on the Mule... "Just Got Paid" was one of the first covers we worked up when we only knew a handful of songs.

Gov't Mule give the 1972 Rio Grande Mud album track the proper treatment with a gritty sound. Warren's slide guitar is scorching, Allen Woody's bass is thumping, and Matt Abts' drums hold down the rhythm with precision. It's a faithful version of the ZZ Top classic, and an glimpse into the early sound of Gov't Mule that has continued to evolve to this day.

You can pick up The Tel-Star Sessions on Amazon. The LP will contain ten songs, with many tracks going on to become regulars in the band's live concert setlists.
