On June 24, 2016, a new Garcia Live archival album will be released. Titled GarciaLive, Volume Six, July 5, 1973, the album will feature Jerry Garcia and keyboardist Merl Saunders performing at the Lion’s Share club in San Anselmo, California. Above, you can listen to the funky instrumental "Finders Keepers," which will be included on the 3-CD set. Head to Jerry Garcia's official store to purchase.

The band members on this night included Garcia, Saunders, John Kahn on bass, and Bill Vitt on drums. There is also an unknown trumpet player which may have been Luis Gasca, according to a YouTube comment. On "Finders Keepers," you can hear how effortlessly they gelled together. Kahn's strong bass and Vitt's steady drumming lay the foundation for Saunders' funky keys and Garcia's heady guitar riffs.

In related Jerry Garcia news, the Grateful Dead recently released a live album of their Red Rocks Amphitheatre performance from July 8, 1978. You can listen to that here on Zumic.
