Producer DJ Shadow's upcoming fifth studio album, The Mountain Will Fall, contains five collaborations, including the track "Nobody Speak," which features rap duo Run the Jewels. On June 14, he released a zany, colorful lyric video for the track. Watch it above on YouTube.
Masterfully directed and animated by Matt Caldamone, the aesthetically pleasing video enhances Run the Jewels' lyrics with bright colors and rapidly moving, minimalistic designs. The fresh feel of the video reflects the uniqueness of the collaborative track itself, highlighting Shadow's bouncy beat as well as El-P and Killer Mike's clever wordplay. Yesterday, DJ Shadow addressed the individuality of "Nobody Speak" in a conversation with Run the Jewels on The Tonight Show, stating:
To me, the goal of any collaboration is to make something that's unique in your catalog and mine, and if I just sat down to make a Run the Jewels track, that's not doing you justice or me justice.
