Los Angeles rock band Dorothy have released their debut studio album, ROCKISDEAD, through Roc Nation Records. Band members include vocalist Dorothy Martin, guitarist DJ Black, bassist Gregg Cash, and drummer Zac Morris. The album was produced by Mark Jackson and Anthrax guitarist Ian Scott.

With 11 songs spanning 35 minutes, ROCKISDEAD is an impressive debut album featuring fuzzed out garage rock tunes that snarl with attitude thanks to guitarist DJ Black's menacing guitar riffs and Dorothy Martin's spirited vocals. Our favorite songs are "Dark Nights," "Wicked Ones," "Kiss It," "Gun In My Hand," "Medicine Man," and "Shelter."

Dorothy is an exciting band with a lot of talent and bright future. Throughout the album, they do a great job of taking elements of adrenalized rock and soulful blues to create a gritty sound that is all their own. Softer moments on songs like "Medicine Man," and "Shelter" brew with intensity, and prove that Dorothy can shake things up.

If there is a weakness on this album, it is that some songs may feel repetitive. They lock into a good groove, but there's no shift to the next level. Selfishly, we would love to see the band take a page from the greats and get into more epic songwriting with dramatic changes and mind blowing moments — which they are certainly capable of.

What you get on ROCKISDEAD is foot stomping rock tunes with immaculate production and awesome vocals. We reached out to the band for a quote to explain the album in their own words, and they said, "We wanted to make music that we hope Beavis & Butthead would headbang to."
