“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (LOVE Version) – The Beatles [Official Music Video + Behind-The-Scenes]

In 2006, The Beatles teamed up with Cirque du Soleil to create a special Las Vegas show called LOVE featuring The Fab Four’s music in new and interesting ways. For the 10th Anniversary, the show was revamped with changes to visuals, set, and costumes, as well as slight changes to the music. Below you can see a newly shared music video for “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” as well as a look behind-the-scenes.

The Beatles “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (LOVE Version) Lyrics

I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don’t know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you

I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don’t know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted
No one alerted you

I look from the wings of the play you are staging
While my guitar gently weeps
As I’m sitting here doing nothing but aging
Still my guitar gently weeps

The LOVE version of the song is much different from the well known 1968 White Album recording featuring Eric Clapton on electric guitar. Using a demo version by the late George Harrison on acoustic guitar (which was previously released on The Beatles Anthology 3) mixed with a new orchestral arrangement produced by Sir George Martin, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was re-released in 2006 as part of the soundtrack for LOVE — which is a must listen for any Beatles fan.

The music video above shows Cirque du Soleil acrobat Eira Glover dancing to the tune along with various shadows and drawings. The “Making Of” video also shows how the rearranged track and choreography were created, explaining how the drawings represent an imaginary love story between the animated character and Glover, who plays Eleanor Rigby in LOVE. Director Dandypunk stated that they were adamant about making the animations a live act instead of using CGI so the visuals felt more real to the audience, playing a major part in the show’s new direction.

The new version of the show debuted February 25th, showing off some of the revisions, such as brand new floors that have springboards underneath them to give the acrobats an extra edge to their performance. For more information about the show, visit the Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE website.

LOVE is available on Amazon. You can also stream it on Spotify.
