“Taxman” – Joe Bonamassa at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England on Jun 27, 2016 (Beatles Cover) [YouTube Video]

The Beatles “Taxman” Lyrics

Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Should five percent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
Cause I’m the taxman, yeah I’m the taxman

If you drive a car, car, I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit, sit, I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold, cold, I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk, walk, I’ll tax your feet

Cause I’m the taxman, yeah I’m the taxman

Don’t ask me what I want it for (Haha, Mr. Wilson)
If you don’t want to pay some more (Haha, Mr. Heath)
Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman

Now my advice for those who die (Taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes (Taxman)
Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman
And you’re working for no one but me

Joe Bonamassa is one of music’s most well-rounded guitarists. In the video above, you can watch the guitar slinger perform a spectacular cover of The Beatles Revolver track “Taxman” live at the famed Cavern Club in Liverpool. Bonamassa puts a driving blues-rock twist to the George Harrison penned song. Halfway through, he brings the song down to a quiet whisper with a flurry of guitar notes before elevating it back up.

The black-and-white video also offers an intimate look inside the historic music venue that has hosted the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Elton John, Black Sabbath, Queen, John Lee Hooker and countless others before closing in 1973 and eventually re-opening in 1984.

If you haven’t gotten it already, pick up Bonamassa’s 2016 album, Blues of Desperation, on Amazon. You can also stream the full album and read our review here on Zumic.
