DIRTY PROJECTORS FT D∆WN “COOL YOUR HEART” LYRICS

How do you feel?
Is it loneliness?
Is there shining in your heart
But no gloss on your lips?
Do you sail alone ’round the island where
A silhouette of a shark beneath my skin
And then you say

Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
Wanna be where you are
Cool your heart
Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
The right one, the right one

You’ve been waiting for the light in me
And there’s been waters in deep
We been hanging tight for all the things we want out of love
So wait, what if
Only I don’t want us to

Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
Wanna be where you are
Cool your heart
Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
The right one, the right one

Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
Wanna be where you are
Cool your heart
Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
The right one, the right one

Though I’ve been trying hard not to fall
The feeling is tumbling in
Last night, I realized its been feeling wrong
To start relying, making decisions based on another person

Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart

Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart
Cool your heart

Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
Wanna be where you are
Cool your heart
Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
The right one, the right one
Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
Wanna be where you are
Cool your heart
Wanna be where you are
You’re the right one
The right one, the right one

Cool your heart
Cool your heart

Dirty Projectors frontman David Longstreth and experimental R&B singer D∆WN (aka Dawn Richard) transcend space and time on a deserted country road in the official music video for “Cool Your Heart.”

In the video, the duo cycle back and forth through different motions to a futuristic beat. The lyrics delve into the acceptance phase of Longstreth’s breakup with former bandmate Amber Coffman. In an interview with Rolling Stone the frontman explained how the new material came about:

If you had asked me at the time, I felt very uncertain about where to go with music… Working as a producer, an arranger and in some cases as a writer for some other people, gave me a super different perspective. But at that same time I was doing the Kanye stuff and working on the Solange album, I would go back to the music I was making. It was probably early sketches and versions of the music that became this record.

Notably, “Cool Your Heart” was co-written with Solange Knowles and features production by Tyondai Braxton of Battles. The Brazilian-inspired beat is supplied by Mauro Refosco, touring percussionist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Dirty Projectors are set to release their seventh studio album on February 24th. Pick it up on Amazon.
