Metal-heads Avenged Sevenfold were interviewed by Metal Hammer's Alexander Milas on the TeamRock Radio Show (Metal Hammer Radio).

The interview mainly consists of ripping on M. Shadows's (ridiculous) new hair style and discussing the band's upcoming album Hail To the King, which will be released on August 27th through Warner Bros.

According to the band, Hail to the King will be far more stripped down than on their previous albums. They then went on to describe in more detail, "We decided to write a riff based, heavy, sonically blast your head off type of record."

When asked about the album's title, they said that it comes from a mix of the show Game of Thrones, inspiration from M. Shadows's recent fatherhood and them bouncing around the idea of the process of violence and deceit one must act upon to become a king.

Avenged Sevenfold was featured as the cover of Metal Hammer this month with the headline "Carrying the Torch" which frontman M. Shadows then goes onto fully explain during the interview:

"We firmly believe, you go to these big festivals like reeding and leeds and download (festivals) you can have Iron Maiden and Metallica play it and then after that what headliners can you get to have all those rock bands opening up? The promoters start moving towards alternative rock and indie rock and all of a sudden you have all those types of bands opening up the shows, you look at rock and ring rock are perfect examples, some years you get metal, Metallica and Maiden and some years it goes a little more indie I think rock'n roll needs big bands, if it's not going to be us, that's fin but people need to get behind rock bands, they need to have new headliners to where every year you can put someone on that stage and then all these underground and obscure badass metal bands can be on the bill and it creates a great environment for rock, it just sucks to see all these festivals turning and radio stations turning because there aren't enough metal and rock bands...but as for carrying the torch that's only for time to tell. - M.
