"We Are Explorers" - Cut Copy [SoundCloud Audio]

With Cut Copy's Free Your Mind two weeks away from its November 5th release date, the band has shared "We Are Explorers," the album's second single.

Preceded by Free Your Mind's retro, acid-house indebted title track, "We Are Explorers" finds the Aussie band returning to the friendly electro-pop sound of their first two albums. Ping-ponging percussion propels groovy verses into choruses featuring stadium-ready synth stabs and lyrics that cast electronic musicians as the Magellans and Marco Polos of the modern world.

"We are explorers when the beat goes on" may seem to be a grandiose boast, but it's a great encapsulation of the sense of discovery that musicians often feel after finding that perfect melody, beat, or note. It may also refer to the sense of newfound wonder that hallucinogens can often produce. After all, this song's on an album called Free Your Mind. You do the math.
