Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones have recorded an album of Everly Brothers songs called Foreverly, set for official release on November 25th.

"Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine" is the second single from the album that's hit the internet. The first single, "Long Time Gone," is currently available on iTunes and you can stream it right here on Zumic.

This new song has some of the energy you'd expect of Billie Joe's main band, Green Day, as things start off with an aggressive acoustic guitar strumming pattern that brings to mind timeless country rock songs "Man In Black" by Johnny Cash and "Tombstone Blues" by Bob Dylan. Things quickly settle into a laid back country groove, with a honky tonk bassline, classic snare heavy drum beat, and western style piano licks. The vocal harmonies between Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones are what are mainly on display here, and they do a fine job singing the somber tune.

A little backstory on the song, it was first recorded in 1935 by Gene Autry and Jimmy Long as "That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine" but for some reason the Everly Brothers changed the title slightly when they recorded it for their appropriately titled 1958 album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. Check out video of The Everly Brothers playing "Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine" with their daddy, and Johnny Cash on Cash's TV old show:
