New York public radio station WNYC welcomed Texas bluesman Gary Clark Jr. into their Soundcheck studio for a solo three song set and an interview. He played "When My Train Pulls In," "Bright Lights," and "Next Door Neighbor Blues," all of which appear on his latest album, Blak and Blu, which he released in October of last year. Clark burned through all three tracks with his signature frenetic, nuanced guitar solos, which have earned him comparisons to Hendrix and other legendary musicians. Check him out in the videos below.

Clark also sat down for an interview with Souncheck host John Schaefer, in which he shared his long list of musical influences, the reasons behind his choice of guitar (Stratocasters are so Stevie Ray Vaughan), and the wild night in New York that led to "Bright Lights." His performance of "Next Door Neighbor Blues" is included in the interview as well.
