Preservation Hall Jazz Band NPR Tiny Desk Concert [Official Video & Free MP3 Download]

The legendary New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band played a concert at NPR Music's headquarters in Washington D.C. Appropriately titled the Tiny Desk Concert, it's almost comical to see the 8 person band crammed into the small office space. But that doesn't stop the jazzmen from turning the place out with some holiday cheer. Watch the full video above, and get a free MP3 download from npr.org.

The audio is also available in a Podcast through iTunes, which in this case includes small portions of audio not included in the video. After Charlie Gabriel sings a rousing "I Think I Love You," NPR Music stalwart Bob Boilen says that Charlie is 81 years old and had just performed his 81st show with the band. The crowd was loving it. Later on, Ronell Johnson, dressed as Santa, puts down the Tuba to sing a fine performance of "Dear Lord" to close the set.

In all, this is a great performance. The band is grooving and swinging through some songs that emphasize the holiday cheer for Christmas and New Year's. The band is a tradition going back to the early '60s and it's great to see that they're still going strong.
