The new Dum Dum Girls track, "Rimbaud Eyes," is the second single to be released from their upcoming LP, Too True, and it more than lives up its decadent-symbolist-connotating name. Consider the ominously subdued bridge, in which Dee Dee Penny longingly coos, "Now I, a boat, / lost on the blue, / am hurled by hurricanes / into bird-less ether; / into forever blue; / into you." It's a rare moment of poetic vulnerability, permeating an otherwise coolly-composed neo-new-wave-rocker.

It's worth noting that "Rimbaud Eyes" pursues a decidedly different direction than their last single, "Lost Boys and Girls Club" (albeit while still retaining that track's sexy-yet-brooding noir-synth atmosphere). There's a certain youthful energy here that hearkens back to songs like 2011's similarly-titled "Bedroom Eyes." It's an interesting development -- one that seems to only hint at the immense range of moods and textures which Too True will surely bring.

Too True is out Jan 27th, and available now for pre-order through Sub Pop Records.
