Last week, we gave you a bit of info about Mac DeMarco's upcoming album Salad Days, and now the Canadian indie rocker has shared the LP's lead single. "Passing Out Pieces" is a spacey jam that sees DeMarco step ever so slightly out of his jangly comfort zone. Stream it above.
With warped keyboard tones dominating the first minute or so, the song doesn't feature DeMarco's instantly recognizable guitar licks until its chorus. His lyrics are also uncharacteristic in their apparent lack of sarcasm or humor, instead opting for deep introspection about DeMarco's roles as a musician, son and lover. Any fans of his goofy charm shouldn't worry though -- an album called Salad Days can't be serious 100% of the time.
Speaking of which, DeMarco also shared a very, very silly promo video for the album that features a slowed-down version of "Passing Out Pieces," along with some perv-tacular close-up shots of his face. Watch that below
Perhaps fittingly, Salad Days will be released on April 1st. There's no preorder available yet, but we'll alert you if one surfaces. Check out more of Mac DeMarco's music and videos on his Zumic artist page.
