Longtime Conan house band guitar player Jimmy Vivino came on The Ginja Ninja's show and performed Bob Dylan's classic "Maggie's Farm" with his band, The Black Italians. This particular performance also included the legendary New Orleans guitar player Leo Nocentelli of the funk / jazz group The Meters.

It was a special moment for Vivino, who started on Conan as part of the Max Weinberg 7 and then became the band leader when Weinberg started touring with Bruce Springsteen after a long hiatus. The band is currently known as Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band. Vivino's history with Conan goes back over 20 years, and it's nice that he got to do his own thing here.

This version of "Maggie's Farm" is particularly funky, with Afro Cuban rhythm and lots of playfulness from the band. Vivino trades lead vocal duties with harmonica player Felix Cabrera and Catherine Russell. In the middle of the song, Vivino trades some guitar licks with Leo Nocentelli in a moment that showcases two true masters of their instruments. The backbone of the rhythm section consists of drummer James Wormworth and bass player Mike Merritt, both also members of the Basic Cable Band. This is a very strong performance, which seems to just fly by even though it's nearly 5 minutes long.
